At Least 13 Juveniles and Adults Involved in Riot

Osceola County * On February 2, Osceola County Sheriff’s detectives concluded a week long investigation that led to 13 individuals being charged with rioting. The incident took place on January 25 at approximately 4:30 p.m. when deputies responded to Seabreeze Court in Buenaventura Lakes in reference to an armed disturbance. When deputies arrived, they observed numerous individuals fighting. According to one of the individuals, he (his name is being withheld because he is a juvenile) told deputies he was at Publix when two males approached him and threatened him with bodily harm. The individual stated to deputies he left the store and began calling his relatives and friends to let them know he was being followed by the two males who wanted to fight. When he got to Seabreeze Court a fight broke out in the front lawn. The fight escalated into a riot by the time deputies arrived. The juvenile was knocked unconscious and airlifted to ORMC with non-life threatening injuries. During the course of the investigation, it was determined three baseball bats and a machete may have been used in the riot.
Pick up orders were issued for the six juveniles involved. Seven adults were arrested, charged with Rioting (F.S.S. 870.01-2) and booked into the Osceola County jail: The investigation is on-going with additional charges pending.
