Detectives Investigate Possible Accidental Death on Fish Lake
Osceola County * Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of a 20-year-old adult who was reported missing the day before. On July 5 at approximately 2:33 p.m., the family of James Beasley (DOB 8/6/86) reported him missing after he did not come home from a Fourth of July party. The party was located at a residence in a subdivision off of East Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee. Witnesses at the party indicated Beasley was drinking heavily.
This morning, Sheriff’s deputies patrolling the area near Fish Lake found a body floating in the water. The body has been identified as James Beasley from St. Cloud. Based on the information detectives have gathered so far, the death is being investigated as accidental at this time. An autospy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. Further information will be released as it becomes available.

The autopsy is finished and yet they will not release the findings to the family for 6 to 7 weeks. Why? The detective should have been on seen immediately, however by the 7th still had not even been to the seen of the alleged drowning to investigate. Why has the police department failed to investigate the fact that he had been in a fight and been threatened earlier that evening? Why has the medical examiner not allowed the family to view the body of their son?! This whole thing has been an example of shotty, poor police work and I for one am not only disappointed, but appalled!! I have been to numerous websites and have found that these complaints are wide spread with poor investigation after poor investigation. I believe it is time that someone takes a look at what exactly it is that our so called police force does if they are not protecting us or bringing possible criminals to justice!
It just doesn’t make sense, a young man like that. Something is fishy, but while we speculate, the police must have proof.
I hope they get to the bottom of it as this looks like a very nice young man and if his family is involved, obviously he is loved.

Im telling you this is not right!!! There is no NO way this boy drown in a retention pond, a RETENTION POND!! Give me a break, if they dont get the truth on this then there will be a very bad person or people who did this terrible thing just walking around with their smug smearks! I am very upset about this and I do not want something like this to happen again in our communtiy! If the cops and examiner do not do thier jobs then this will be a closed case if it already is not and there will be a poor yound man to rest with NO JUSTICE! It is not right!!!! Honesty is your only option. Someone knows what happened to James. Maybe they are afraid to tell. How about an anonymous letter to the police so at least the family will know what happened to him and they can start to heal in the future. Not knowing is just wrong! Give James and his family the justice they deserve, step forward and tell what you know!
I agree with that 100% I think they are scared to tell what they know, but what they do not understand is that by not telling what happened they are enabeling this to possibly happen again to someone elses child or maybe even themselves. They need to give James peace as well, how about justice for the peace, even though he is gone that doesnt mean that he wouldnt want his story to be told and those jerks to be punished and for the sake of his family who are horrificly shocked and in missery and can never see their son on this earth again. Your right!! This is not right at all. A strong, young man is not going for a swim, in a nasty pond, on the fouth of July alone, next to a house where his frinds are partying. And if he even was “heavily drinking” ….and all his friends were at the same party - eating cake and ice cream… I dont think so. When you get alot of “underage” people together at a home where drinking is permitted, and it is a holiday, and school is out, and there is drinks going around,”heavy drinking” will be had by all. I am sure that the law enforcment on this case will not allow the wool to be pulled over there eyes…will they? Alot of people will shift blame or wrong doing to cover there own story, it’s the oldest trick in the book. This case is not closed, I just hope someone does their job. Someone needs to bring justice for this young man.

Yes that is very true, there were tons of people there and believe me people hang out inside a house and outside as well, there are people all over the place. So to say that nobody knows anything is a load of crap! Now that James can not speak for himself someone else needs to tell the truth, and yea he was a big boy and had alot of muscle and i dont believe he would just go swim in a pond! Not only that but he loves his family so much and im sure he was not ready to leave them yet, if this case is closed then that will go to show you just how well our Florida justice is! And I would hate HATE to see this with no punishment!
I have spent a lot of time with James’s family after they had found him. With all of the info. that has been given to his mother, nothing adds up. James’s death was no way in hell accidental.. you would have to have the devils blood running through ur body to have anything to do with his death. I hope for Beasleys sake, some kind of resolution will come about. I hope the ones that did have something to do with this know that they have ruined a lot of lives, and understand that his mother, father, and four yr old brother will never get to see him again.
Absolutly! This is a sick enough world and im telling you if you do some research you will see there are alot of stories where people have proof that police and detectives do not do their job 100% and let stuff like this just lie! These families are suing the state and others because of NO JUSTICE for the victime that is lying at rest! They need to treat this case with 100% effort and all cases at that! This is horrible. I went to school but I didn’t really know him other then the fact he was funny =[ but its all hearsay on what happen but ive heard the same story from several different people. is that he was drinking heavily and was too drunk to drive home so he decide to sleep in his truck and the next day his friends went out to check on him and he was gone. his truck had the windows smashed out and he was gone =( Its horrible over something redicuilous people die. I swear its only a matter of time before some goes crazy and becomes a serial killer. Everythings just going that bad.
O yea I was told that his keys were locked in his car and that his car was keyed as well, now I know james didnt do that so….. I know he had alot of friends but im sure he had some people that did not like him as well and it seems to me that they caught up with him! There is not 1 person I have spoke to that thinks that this is an accident, and my god do I hope that this was not a painful death for him. I just cant believe that someone is soo evil to just walk around here knowing what they did to him and what this has done to the family and not even care, its sick, its devilish, and im sure that James would want that person or people caught! you know it’s unfortunate that none of james’s friends will come fordward and say what happend that night, and the truth is that someone is going to eventually start talking. my family is very close with the family and this has hit close to home. just imagine ”losing your best friend” your son. and not knowing what happend, and when people are asked about it they act like they are scared to say anything. the pain the family/friends are going through is unimaginable plus the fact of not knowing what happend, when deep down you know someone knows the truth. anyone that knows/saw anything please contact the family/police and help the family. imagine being in thier position.
I also went to school with James, and it’s unfortunate that no news has come about as to what really happened. However, one has to temper sympathy with wisdom. There’s no future for people like James in St. Cloud. I left for college immediately after graduation because of these kinds of stories. My younger brother used to call me regularly with stories of fights at parties, rampant meth use, and other tales of wasted youth.
Step one is getting the attendees at that 4th of July party to step forward and admit what they know. Step two is helping these kids discover their potential and convincing them to invest in themselves.

Of course not, there is nothing new as far as an update which is why I believe the investigation is being put on the backburner! Imagine if your son was James and the detectives and whoever else involved wont give you any information, it has almost been a month now! Where are the true answers. This is absolutely disgusting.

yes very true and not for nothing but it has been a month now and there is no news. That concerns me greatly. If there is no news then im guessing that means they dont know anything right now but they must know how he died and if it was intention and most of us believe there was foul play here. I just hope that the investigators have not dropped the ball on this because that is just not fair! And to think whoever did do this is sitting there laughing beacause they are not getting caught! What if that person or people do it again! Something must be done and i hope the family will fight this with all of their broken hearts.
They won’t try this as a murder because they want to keep the stats down, as sad as that sounds.But one day the kids will be caught eventually because they proablly think they can get away with again so im sure they will try.

The final autopsy should be arriving any day. I would like to know the results of James, shoulders and neck. If he fell down the stairs at the home when he was shooting pool on the second floor. Did he fall and someone placed him in a bedroom, only to be discovered by a parent and him not awakening….. Did the parents panic and throw him in fish lake??? How long was he in the water? Why was the phone in the house.. James, never leaves his phone. He never leaves his phone because.. he was still in the house.! Did the sheriff’s department look in the house?? Did the owners grant them permission that night? I do not believe the osceola sheriff’s department looked in the home that night. when will the family get justice for this tragedy.?

So when the results come in from his autopsy, will the cops release that info. right away? I know the medical examiner is Dr. G she does all of the “possible” murders or murders in Osceola and all of Orlando. I have to say though the fact that it has almost been 2 mths now and there is no new word says to me that is was not an accident. The family has an attorney, the case will NOT be CLOSED until they find out what happened to JAMES LEE BEASLEY the Night of July 4th.! The autopsy will not be released until the case is closed. It has been 2 months and there is NOT a DAY, James is thought of in our hearts and mind. He is deeply missed. The rains here in osceola county are the tears shed from our hearts. WE WILL PREVAIL!! I do NOT believe this was an accident. James hated the water. He would not go out in the ocean because he did not know what was beneath his feet. So, I know he would of not gone swimming in a DARK COLD LAKE (POND) that night. James was placed in that lake. Do not know any facts at this time. I pray for answers.
Good lord! James was thrown in the lake after passing out in his truck,which roomers have it, it was by kids who he got into a fight with earlier that night.Apparently the kid threatened him with a gun and they then left to a bar and said they where “going hunting for bealsey”.also the kid by the name of Adam Ball left town(prime suspect).It’s obvious he was murdered , these are young kids who seem to want to prove something, as they did send out letters to friends of James about how his drowning was “priceless” sure enough they will blab there mouth and the truth will come out,but as far ass him falling or something I seriously doubt that happened and the house was owned by a younger person,(racecar driver) i believe there where no parents, but he was last seen bout 1130 he officially died on the 4th so that means with in the next half hour something happened.The house wasn’t two stories from what I know and what I seen from the outside ,The reasoning his phone was left because he was in the pool and he jumped out ran threw the house and out the door,(he was mad bout something) which was the last time he was seen alive.

It really upsets me that all of these people are talking and spreading rumors when they don’t know what happened that night. Nobody does, except for James himself, God, and whoever did this to him. I’ve been to his house a couple times after his passing and I must say, his family is full of the sweetest people, especially his mother. Not a day goes by where I don’t think of him, or a day that I don’t play the song he last listened to on Earth. He’ll always be in my heart and that’s where he will stay, until we meet again.

Saintcloud, I wonder just how much the cops are taking this information and using it to find out what happened to him…. and if he passed out in his truck then what happened to him after that, because the truck was keyed, and his keys were locked in his truck….. so what happened to him then if he was in the truck….. if he was passed out… surely the killer or killers did not just drag him out of the truck…. they must have had another confrentation with him I would think… are there any facts that you know of?

I followed up with the police dept. and I have a friend that is a cop (one that actually does his job) and even he says that this is not right. I am outraged that this is not being followed through!
This case can not be closed it just can’t be, things have not been resolved…There is more to this case a lot more. James was my best friend and my first little love. He means the world to me and to his family.

This should tell you about our police dept. it seems to me like this case was not important enough for them! Every case should be important and especially one where a young adult is involved Seems to me that if they knew this was not an accident (and to me this does not sound like one) they would not do this investigation half as#. I’m so sorry for the loss of this young man. I don’t know all that much about criminal activity, but I do know that while the police may think someone is guilty of committing a crime, they must have evidence to support what they think. I hope if this young man died at the hands of another the person will be made to pay for depriving us of all that James had to offer his community and this world. James always drinks beer, but some guys that were at the party told me that he had a bottle and was drinking hard liquor. so that had to of come from somewhere. Some where in the stories of that night there was a scuffle, James does not start fights, and to be in a fight Whisky must have been involved. The Todd’s are still partying… and nothing has been done to them yet? I just don’t understand. They are some two faced people. I met them while helping to look for James, they were being all nice and concerned… if they had any brains they would stop throwing parties like it was nothing. Well, there is some recent st. cloud boys that have become police officers for the city. I believe this is a county Sheriff case or it was. I am going to see what I can get out of the guys i know..see if they know a lot about it. I Know something happened to him. He would never ever go in water like that..especailly at night. Frankly he would not put up with out a fight either…I was there the night that the blood hounds were looking for James lee they went sniffing around the apartments a mile away…never went near that water and the search light… why didn’t it pick up his body in the water. do we know how long he was in the water? I just find it strange that he was found after everyone fled the scene. His friends, Myself, his mother and her friends and family, the police and the dogs… he was found by the todd’s when everyone left… fishy huh

Oh yes, the TODD’s would not let any of us speak. I myself was not in attendence at the party, I had to work and I actually left work to meet James Lees mother at the house. But when friends came to the scene they were very upset and honestly did not even talk to the family and friends of James until officals got to the house. Honestly then they were not even that talkative to us but they would talk enough to block anyone out who was last at the party. The thing that I don’t understand is that James was “seen” in his truck around 3:00 am… but that would make his death the 5th not the 4th? So, I really don’t understand. The Todd’s saw something from a window in the water…from what I first heard, I am not sure if that has changed. Again, the search lights were real bright and rather low, they would have picked up his body in the water, they just would have and those dogs did not go near that water… but friends and family did, why wasn’t he found earlier?

What would someones motive be to kill this young man? Was James in fights alot? Did he pick on people? So if he was seen at 3 then why in the report does it say death on 4th? Do you think one of his friends may know what happened and maybe scared so they wont talk? If he was at a big party then someone had to see something….
James was not one to pick fights at all, I am not saying he didn’t get into them because he did, but it is not like him to start one. He is the sweetest, most genuine guy ever. But the thing about the party or the people there rather is that the stories are all linked but then there is like a two hour period that people say this and this happened and that is when the stories dont really click anymore. But everything with the house and the phone and his shirt and “seeing” him in the truck and the dogs and the search light chopper… it all does not make sense together what so ever, or at least to me anyway. I really am restless over this… he is my best guy friend and has been for years, I want to get to the bottom of this!!!

SUMMARY:
Autopsy reports made pursuant to law are public records which must be made available for public inspection and examination unless exempted by special act. If not exempted from disclosure by special act, an autopsy report may be kept confidential only to the extent necessary to ensure that a criminal investigation would not be significantly impeded and enable violators of the criminal laws to escape detection and apprehension. Documents or records made confidential by statute do not lose such status upon receipt by the medical examiner.
Looks like they are although I haven’t a clue as to how you would go about asking for them. Call the Orlando Medical Examiners Office and ask. I am thinking I would want a professional going over the information with me though, I am sure I would not understand it enough to benefit any type of investigation.

Have you heard anything yet? Has what happened to James already been forgotten? Has someone gotten away with murder? Did James really just go for a midnight swim and drown while intoxicated. Who served James alcohol? Who drank with him? Who could have looked after him and didn’t? Very frustrating to see a young life slip away like that.
Well i have not heard anything yet and i still do not believe this was an accident! I think someone has got away with this horrible doing and i think it sucks! It is not fair that a young man with so much to do still in life had it snatched away!! Until someone finds out what happened to him i will not believe this was an accident and i pray to god very often that someone finds out what the heck happened on that horrible 4th of july. i hope that his family is fighting for him everyday. This really saddens me and i am very disturbed. Why do i keep seeing all of these updates to crimes and what they have found but no updates on this case????? why???
Well i guess this means that we have no answers and if this was a crime it has gone unpunished, this is very sad and disturbing to me.
Thanks to all of you for your comments and concerns, I hope that someday we can finnaly get the truth. Untill then all we can do is pray. We miss james everyday, godbless all of you that care.
It just doesnt seem like enough…… for his family and friends to not know what really happened to him is a horrible void, it is not fair and they deserve to know the truth. Whoever knows what really happened needs to come forward and give these people closure which still does not bring James back but at least they will know the truth.
If any new info comes up please inform us on here, i look at this forum every day in hopes that the truth will be told, thank you everyone for keeping this topic and tragedy open.
The autopsy has not been relased yet. The family knows nothing for sure yet. They have no date of death as well. everyone assumes the 4th because that was the last time he was seen. Everyday is a struggle and we are working hard to get through it. There is a PI working with lawyers to try to get to the bottom of this case. The county is “supposed” to be still with the case, but there has been no further investigating with the police report or at the “party House”
It seems to me that this case is NOT being taken seriously and is being brushed off! It has been 6 mths since this horrible tradgedy has happened and they still wont give the family the freaking autopsy report!!!! The county in my eyes is not doing crap with this case and this whole freaking thing seems very fishy to me. What do James’s friends have to say about this situation? Do they feel this was not an accident?
The autopsy has been released, just over the past few days. No water in the lungs…that means James Lee did not drown! New finding have come to make this case even more difficult to deal with. Mom never saw his body, ever… A local Deputy-sheriff identifyed the body. he was an “accquiantance of the deseased” His son played football with James. His mother is furious because she does not know the gentleman. also the body was soo “decomposed” because they “forgot” to put it in the cooler to perserve him. BULL… it does not make since. Also the PI on the case was based out of New York. what is he really going to do. The family is working to figure out what the next steps are… also, the description on the autopsy does not match James’ appearence… so tell me what does this all mean? Was it truly him? It is very difficult for friends and family to deal with. Not many people visit the family very much anymore. James’ long time friend and basically girlfriend is devistated and knows in her heart that they were suppose to be together for the rest of there lives. She is heartbroken and is doing all in her power with his mother to get to the bottom of this cold case. they know this could not have been an accident deep down. He is missed very muc and many tears are shead each day over this terrible situation.
O yes concerned friend I know just what you mean, I actually know the family pretty well (I grew up with James until Jr. high and our moms used to be bf’s and still are pretty much) and I have to say I do not know how his mom is still around if you know what I mean…… I do not think I have ever seen one person so devistated in my life
this whole situation makes me sick and from the moment my mom called me to tell me what happened to James I knew in my heart that he DID NOT DROWN and I had a horrible feeling that this was no accident!!!! When his mom told me what you are saying I was outraged!! This county did not handle James the right way, and I think they are hiding something!!! I am sick over this, and I think about him everyday and being around his family now is very hard because of all of this pain THAT IM SURE SOMEONE OR OTHERS HAVE CAUSED!!! It is not fair to James’ family or friends and I am sure that many lives are effected in a bad way forever. From the very beginning this whole story of what happened to James did not sound right, why were there marks on his truck? Why couldnt his body be found when his mom went out there? Why did the Todds’ (from what I understand) talk over the kids that were being questioned? How is it that the Todd’s found him after everyone left the scene? WHY WAS HIS BODY NOT STORED CORRECTLY??!!!! Is it just me or does this add up to a bunch of bull&hit??? I was not around James in his older years but I find it hard to believe that he was a trouble maker…….. at least he was not when he was younger. Why would anyone want to hurt him? I am sorry if I am gushing but this is the worst thing that has ever happened in my life yet and I feel like the biggest part of my childhood (because he was) has been taken away. I know that he is in a better place now………… but point is he was not supposed to die like this……. god (if that is what you believe in) does not make people hurt other people, it is our own free will and god gave us that. So if one person or 10 people did this to him it is their fault, not god’s, James was robbed of his life!!! I believe he had alot more living to do and you know what concerned friend maybe your friend and James would have lived that life together……… but in my heart I feel that some piece of sh*t took that life away!!! If there are any new finding please please post it and I will do the same, I check this forum daily in hopes that the truth will be told because for the people that loved James…… that is all we have left.
This is the ORIGINAL concerned citizen. I noticed the other concerned citizens post right above mine and I am very sorry for your loss as well as everyone else’s. I think it is a terrible thing that it has almost been a year that this has happened and there are still no answers! I hope that everyone in our community can get the answers and the family as well because we just might have a killer/killers on the loose and that is not safe for anyone, what is wrong with our county!!!!!

Lets just say everytime we get moving… we hit a brick wall… no answers, all talk from authorities…
oh my goodness, it has almost been a year and still no answers…….. the authorities are not saying anything? what can his family do about any of this?
