Crime Stoppers Bulletin: Law Enforcement Impersonators in Four Corners Area

Polk County Sheriff’s detectives are seeking information about two men who are impersonating law enforcement officers in the Legacy Park subdivision.

On March 18, 2008, two unknown white males were going door-to-door in Legacy Park, which is located in the Highgate Park community in Northeast Polk County, displaying a gold 6-sided star with a black shroud on it and identifying themselves as “Polk County Police.” The men were asking residents if they were full-time residents or vacationers. They were also asking about security systems and which homes in the area were unoccupied. The men are driving a white Ford Taurus.

One of the suspects is described as a white male, about 6’ tall, 180 lbs., with brown hair cut military-style, wearing tan pants and a button-up shirt. The others suspect is described as a white male, about 5’7” tall, 200 lbs., with sandy blond hair cut military-style, wearing tan pants and a button-up shirt.

A message has been sent to residents in the area not to talk to these two men, but to contact law enforcement immediately if they encounter these imposters. Detectives believe the men are trying to determine which homes to target for burglaries.

    In your above listed article it states “a message has been sent to residents in the area……”. What message, I found out about this after doing a search on the internet to see if there was anything new about Legacy Park. Someone please tell me who is in charge of getting address for notices such as this as I would like to be notified. Get your facts straight.
