Osceola County, Florida –   Osceola County, in partnership with Toho Water Authority, will hold its inaugural community-wide volunteer anti-litter/Earth Day event, “Keep Osceola Beautiful,” on Saturday, April 21, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The public is welcome to participate.

Multiple clean-up activities are scheduled throughout the County on various lakes and roadways.  Additionally, tree plantings will take place in three locations across Osceola County.

Clean-ups will take place throughout the morning, starting at 8:00 a.m.   Once their respective projects are completed for the morning, volunteers are invited back to Chisholm Park off Highway 15 in Narcoossee for a free lunch and Earth Day Fair from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m..  The fair will feature vendor booths, games, a dunk tank and other fun ways to learn more about our environment and what we can do to protect it.

“Litter is a problem in Osceola County.  But the good news is that it’s a problem we can all work together to eliminate,” said Commissioner Ken Smith.  “It is imperative that we strive to preserve our natural beauty and protect our home, Osceola County.”

Citizens wishing to volunteer are required to register in order to participate in the free lunch.  Volunteers will also receive a free wristband and T-Shirt (while supplies last).
