Osceola County – On January 17, Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 74-year-old, Antonio Pena and charged him with Sexual Battery, Lewd & Lascivious Molestation and Lewd & Lascivious Conduct. The investigation began on January 17 when deputies took a report of sexual battery. The 13-year-old female victim told deputies she met Pena at the bus stop on January 4, 2011. He asked her if she was hungry and offered to take her back to his residence for food. While at his residence, the victim told deputies Pena inappropriately touched her and made sexual advances towards her while asking her to remove her clothing. He took her back to the bus stop and, the next day approached her again and gave her his phone number and money. The victim was able take deputies to Pena’s residence. Detectives brought Pena in for questioning and he cooperated with the investigation. Based on the information, Pena was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail with no bond.

Osceola County, Florida – As part of the ongoing road widening project on Poinciana Boulevard, traffic will be shifted between Crescent Lakes Way north to US 17/92 on Wednesday, December 22nd and Thursday, December 23rd, weather permitting.

Currently all traffic is configured on the recently-constructed southbound lanes. This final phase of construction will consist of shifting the northbound traffic from the southbound lanes to the newly-constructed northbound lanes.

Northbound traffic will be configured on the outside northbound lanes; southbound traffic will be configured on the outside southbound lanes. The inside lanes will be closed in order to allow the contractor a safe work zone to complete median construction.

Variable Message Boards (VMBs) will be located at either end of the work site; motorists are urged to use caution when approaching these areas.

Osceola County (September 29, 2010)– On September 28 at approximately 6:32 a.m., Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Monterey Road and Van Loon Court in Poinciana. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the complainant who indicated she saw a 3-year-old boy walking down the street alone. As deputies were trying to find out where the boy lived, a man, later identified as Adam Teltchik, a registered felon, stopped to speak with them. Teltchik told deputies he was taking another child in his care to a bus stop and the three-year-old boy might have gotten out of the car. He later changed his story and indicated he was sleeping at his residence and when he awoke, the 3-year-old boy was gone. He left two other children, a 5-year-old and 6-year-old alone at the residence alone while he looked for the 3-year-old. Deputies went back to the residence with Teltchik and observed the house to be dirty and in disarray. Further investigation revealed that a week before, deputies responded to a similar incident involving one of the children who had walked away from the residence. Based on the evidence and information provided by Telchik, he was arrested and charged with 3 counts of Child Neglect.

Brian Marger, chief operating officer of Osceola Regional Medical Center, has informed the Friends of the Poinciana Hospital that the developer for the medical arts building has been finalized.

The developer will be Optimal Outcome.

Optimal Outcome brings over 15 years experience in ambulatory healthcare, Marger said.
“We now know the what, why, where and the who. This should start to attract jobs, investment in the area and help to raise the value of land,” stated Fernando Valverde, founder of Friends of the Poinciana Hospital (FOPH in a press release.

Osceola County (September 20, 2010)– On September 25, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and other local law enforcement agencies will participate in a program to remove potentially dangerous prescription drugs from homes. The initiative provides an opportunity for citizens to safely turn over expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances or other medications to law enforcement for destruction.
This one-day effort brings national attention to the issue of pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse. The 2008 National Survey on Drug Use and Health estimated there were 6.2 million current non-medical users of psychotherapeutic drugs in the United States.
The program is completely anonymous and free of charge. Citizens who have unwanted prescription drugs can drop them off at two sites in Osceola County: Publix located at 841 Cypress Parkway Boulevard in Poinciana and Publix located at 1951 South Narcoossee Road in St. Cloud. Both locations will have deputies from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All solid dosage pharmaceutical products and liquids in consumer containers will be accepted. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original containers with the cap tightly sealed to prevent leakage Intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted due to potential hazards.

Osceola County (September 20, 2010)– Osceola County Sheriff’s detectives still need the public’s help in locating a suspect possibly involved in an early morning road rage incident. The Crimeline reward has been increased to $15,000 for information that leads to a felony arrest in the crime.
On September 5 at approximately 12:36, Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 7-Eleven located at 1600 Pleasant Hill Road in reference to a shooting. When units arrived, they spoke with witnesses who indicated a burgundy Chevrolet pickup truck pulled into the parking lot and the driver, later identified as Joshua Levi Burch, 20, from Lake Wales had appeared to have been shot. Burch was transported to Osceola Regional Medical Center and later died. Several days after the incident, deputies and detectives set up road blocks on Pleasant Hill Road and distributed approximately 4,000 Crimeline fliers. Deputies also placed road signs in the same area to bring awareness to the crime.
Detectives are looking for a black or Hispanic male driving a newer model, black, SUV, possibly a Nissan, that was driving northbound on Pleasant Hill Road a mile from SR 17-92. HAINES CITY – Events to raise money the Levi Burch Reward Fund, named for the victim of an apparent road-rage shooting, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sept. 25 at Tractor Supply in Haines City.

Joshua Levi Burch, 20, a native of Haines City and resident of Lake Wales, was fatally shot by another motorist early in the morning on Sept. 5 while he was traveling in his pickup truck on Pleasant Hill Road near U.S. Highway 17-92 in Poinciana, authorities reported.

Driven by a passenger, the truck carrying the wounded Burch pulled into a 7-Eleven. Burch was later taken to a hospital, where he died.

The suspect is still at large. Authorities are looking for the driver of a black Nissan sport-utility vehicle that was seen traveling in Osceola County.

Burch’s friends and family created the reward fund to assist in the apprehension of the suspect.

The two Saturday events will include a car wash; sales of T-shirts created in Burch’s memory (for $10 each); fall-themed photography sittings provided by bGb Photography (for a minimum $25 donation); and letters for signature written to “America’s Most Wanted,” asking that Burch’s murder be profiled on the television show.

Donations also can be taken to any CenterState Bank office and deposited into the Levi Burch Reward Fund. Facebook members also can search “Levi Burch Reward Fund” and contribute via PayPal.

According to Burch’s family, more than $10,000 already has been donated to the fund by community members and Crimeline of Orlando.

Osceola County (August 11, 2010) – Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies with the Community Response Team West arrested four suspects involved in more than 41 burglaries, fraud and identity theft cases. In May of this year, deputies were investigating a car burglary and identified four suspects involved in this incident and numerous car burglaries in Central Florida. Deputies obtained search warrants for their residence located at 116 Aurelia Court in Poinciana and three storage units in Orange County. They found hundreds of stolen items including jewelry, personal identification, credit cards and furniture. Detectives discovered the suspects, identified as Robin Adkins, Darryl Lewis, Christopher Hitch and Tremaine Weekly, would assume the victims’ identities and use their identification cards, credit cards and bank checks to make purchases throughout Florida. In addition, the suspects applied for credit, filed tax returns and purchased vehicles using the victims’ information. Detectives were able to recover 366 stolen items and identify 147 victims from 23 jurisdictions in Central Florida.

On August 10, Adkins, Lewis, Hitch and Weekly were arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail. In addition to Osceola charges, the Statewide Prosecutor has numerous fraud and burglary charges for crimes in Central Florida. At this time, the investigation is on-going.
