POINCIANA, Fla. — An elementary school principal in Poinciana is accused of paying his son to work at the school even though his son has a criminal record. That record includes a robbery.

Eyewitness News confronted the principal at Palmetto Elementary School in Poinciana on Thursday about why he’s been paying his son to work at the school. The school district didn’t know about his criminal record until Eyewitness News informed them.

District officials said they’re now looking into it.

Eyewitness News did a background check and the principal’s son has four arrests and a conviction for robbery. He was on the job at the school when Eyewitness News walked in the office and asked for him Thursday.

Roger Blase has enough mug shots to fill a page in the school yearbook and school is exactly where the 36-year-old was Thursday. His father, Luis Alvarez, is the principal at Palmetto Elementary.

Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 3 juveniles charged with Armed Burglary, Criminal Mischief and Grand Theft. On September 20 at approximately 1:31 p.m., Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies responded to 622 McKinley Court in Poinciana in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, deputies observed a vehicle in the driveway with the engine on and all of the windows rolled down. As deputies approached the residence they saw three juveniles running from the back of the house. The juveniles attempted to flee by jumping over a fence. Deputies were able to take all three into custody and after further investigation they located burglary tools and items stolen from the residence.

Remesh Mohabir, Hollis Campbell and Sashane Thompson and charged them with Armed Burglary, Criminal Mischief and Grand Theft. All three were taken to the Osceola County Juvenile Detention Center.

Just got word from the Osceola School District Community relations office that a second student who is being treated in a local hospital has been confirmed to have MRSA. The student is responding well to treatment, health officials seemed to have started treatment early enough with this student with high expectations for full recovery. That is all I know at this time.
Sincerely,
Jay Wheeler
